AIR
QUALITY AND METEOROLOGICAL MONITORING
RTP maintains
strong capabilities in ambient and indoor air monitoring. We can
perform monitoring for criteria pollutants as well as non-criteria
and hazardous air pollutants. Projects have ranged from walk through
surveys of volatile organic compounds, wipe samples and grab samples
to continuous ambient monitoring systems and CEM systems with fully
automated calibration and data management systems. We have designed
complete PSD qualified monitoring systems for new projects and specialized
approaches to meet specific project requirements. Designs have included
fully automated systems with remote data processing for a variety
of clients. We can provide full technical support for all operating
systems.
As an adjunct
to our aerometric experience, our meteorological monitoring experience
includes the installation and operation of remote, solar powered
wind systems, Doppler and monostatic acoustic radar systems, and
multi-leveled tall towers. We can provide complete turnkey systems
or lease equipment for the duration of a monitoring project. Training
on the operation of monitoring systems is also available.
RTP performs
independent, "third party" system and performance audits
on existing monitoring systems. We use EPA certified gas cylinder
standards with precision dilution and GPT calibrators and our meteorological
auditing techniques follow the guidelines in USEPA's QA Handbook,
Vol. IV. We also provide unique quality assurance services for auditing
Doppler acoustic radar systems.
RTP can provide
remote data interrogation, data reduction and processing services
for your existing monitoring network. We can reduce data from strip
chart recorders as well as from digital data loggers or diskettes
in SAROAD, RAMMET, ISCST, AERMOD, CALPUFF format, joint frequency
distributions and other formats. Statistical summaries and pollution
and/or wind roses are also available.
As part of our
monitoring services, RTP can perform odor and community noise exposure
studies on a short-term or long-term basis. By integrating sound
level meters, meteorological equipment, and data loggers, we can
provide complete noise monitoring systems.
Support programs
and staff are available for integrating meteorological and air quality
monitoring study data into source evaluation analytical protocols.
Integration of high quality field data to specifically evaluate
existing and proposed source interactions with local and regional
meteorological and climatological conditions is available through
RTP. Direct access to other data bases is available through the
use of hardware systems at RTP and through a series of service bureaus.
